Are You Motivated or Driven?

Welcoming the weekly grind today with open arms. Working on that fresh perspective this week and making a mindset shift for the next few months. Trying to prioritize a couple new projects, and still make time for things that are important to me, keep me level headed and are life giving.

In this process I’m working on my yes and no list. For me, the challenge has never been coming up with a list like this, writing the actual list is the easy part. It’s the habit of habitually checking that list before I commit to any engagement that’s the hard part. Anyone else feel me on this one?

So the process of creating my priorities is very fulfilling, but is super short lived. I think David Goggins said it best, in that you have to ask yourself are you motivated or are you driven? If you’re motivated, anyone can create a list of priorities. If you’re driven, you consistently look at those priorities before making any commitments. That’s where long term fulfilment comes from, just like sticking to a diet or workout plan. Each individual workout or commitment isn’t fulfilling. It’s the long term process of prioritizing and committing to only those things that are in line with your priorities/consistently choosing foods and exercise consistent with your goals. Our word is only as good as our actions that follow through on our word. Don’t make a conscious effort, make a consistent effort of checking those priorities.

How do you weigh the things that give you life and creates mental space in comparison to the things that you have to do? .
