Solo Travel and Intrinsic Motivation

Kris Levy Wine and Fitness

Making my list right now of places I want to go this year, which has me reflecting on not just my trips from the last year but from the previous 2-3 years and how far I’ve come to embrace solo travel.

Solo travel is not easy. It’s hard to think about putting yourself out there and going to a completely foreign country by yourself where you know absolutely no one.

But solo travel is one of the best things you can do to develop into a better person, because when you travel alone the fun you have is only limited by how the number of strangers you talk to. How much you grow as a person is only limited by the number of books you read, and your creativity is only limited by the number of pages you write.

Solo travel forces you to find intrinsic motivation instead of extrinsic motivation which can be found in our everyday lives in the environments where we are comfortable in.

So get out there this year and learn what makes you tick while seeing new lands, experiencing new cultures, and eating new foods and in the process you’ll create a new you.
